Two E-3B Sentry AWACS participated during the exercise, one from Elmendorf AFB, Alaska and the other from Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. The two units would fly on alternate days and would be airborne for close to eight hours each day. Both were based at 19 Wing CFB Comox.

The two frontline CF-18 Squadron's (409 Night Hawks from 4 Wing Cold Lake and 425 Alouettes from 3 Wing Bagotville) played a major role in the exercise. Mission's included live fire AIM 9 Sidewinder and AIM 7 Sparrow air to air misslies as well as strafing runs on the HMCS Huron during the SINKEX.

Four S-3B Viking's from VS-22 Checkmates took part in the exercise. Flying from Victoria International Airport, the Viking's usually flew as a two ship flight.

F-15C/D's from Tyndall AFB, Flordia operated from 19 Wing Comox. A total of six jets were deployed to Comox with usual mission's flying with four Eagle's for each mission.

VAW 121 Blue Tails operated three E-2C Hawkeye's that operated from Victoria. Based at NAS Norfolk, Virginia, this was VAW 121 first participation in Trident Fury.

The Aussie Wedgetail only took part in three mission's during the exercise. Still in the development and testing stages, the Wedgetail will not be fully operational in the RAAF until late 2009 when they will operate a fleet of six.
